ARRIVAL + CHARLES DARWIN STATION
Upon your arrival in the Galapagos Islands one of our representatives will cordially receive you at Baltra airport. From there we will go to the Itabaca channel to take our private transport and arrive at our hotel located in the city of Puerto Ayora.
CHARLES DARWIN STATION
After we get our accommodation and have lunch, we will begin our visit at the Charles Darwin Research Station, an entity whose mission is to help conserve the environment and biodiversity of the Galapagos Archipelago. Here we are going to visit the Tortoises Breeding Center to observe the different types of turtle species from different islands that are found there and reproduce in captivity under care and protection of the Galapagos National Park.
We´ll also learn about the story of LONESOME GEORGE (the only survivor of Pinta Island) who probably lived more than 100 years.
Without a doubt, Lonesome George became an emblematic species for Galapagos and the world. He died in June 2012 of natural causes, for such reason, it got embalmed and is now exhibited as part of the new interpretive trail of the Galapagos National Park called “Tortoise´s road”.
NORTH SEYMOUR TOUR
We’re going to visit North Seymour, where we’re going to do a hike within its natural and special paths to observe and enjoy the best place for birds during the nesting time. Amongst them there will be the blue-footed boobies (with their romantic courtship dance) and the magnificent red-breasted frigate birds (during the mating season, the male inflates its amazing red breast pouch to attract the females). Due to this special activity of the birds, Seymour represents a unique area and is very recognized in the enchanting islands. Additionally we´ll be able to see Tropical Birds, Pelicans, Seagulls and the yellow Land Iguanas (endemic species of Galapagos).
We’re also going to visit Bachas Beach. On this beach, you will find white coral sand and a few steps away there are saltwater lagoons where birds like Herons and Flamingos feed themselves. At this beach, we will have some free time. You can realize the activity you prefer most in that moment, such as taking pictures, swimming, snorkeling, walking or just relaxing on the beach.
Start: 08:00 am Return: 15:00 pm
TOUR ISLA SANTA CRUZ #2 (whole day trip)
TOUR PARTE ALTA
We will begin our trip by land until we reach our destination called “El Chato”, located in the upper part of Santa Cruz Island.
Once at the site we will have the opportunity to observe the emblematic species of the Galapagos Islands, the Giant Land Tortoises. These are found in free areas, such as lagoons and trails.
We will also visit the lava tunnels. These are hollow rocks type caverns or caves, which allow us to take a walk inside them and take pictures of this beautiful and unique volcanic formation. In addition, we will learn a little more about the geological and natural formation of the Galapagos Islands.
Finally, we will visit Los Gemelos (The Twins), these are 2 gigantic inactive craters located under the earth’s surface in the form of cones (sunken) and formed by a series of volcanic eruptions. We will also observe birds such as the Galapagos Finches and the Vermilion Flycatcher, which give life and colour to this beautiful landscape.
EL GARRAPATERO BEACH
El Garrapatero beach is a paradise away from any settlement. Its clear water, its subtle waves and its white sand welcome visitors who opt for a quiet day in contact with nature.
El Garrapatero beach is undoubtedly one of the best options to visit within the Enchanted Islands.
Behind the beach is a lagoon where you can find flamingos, black-necked ducks, Galapagos finches and migratory birds.
Return to Santa Cruz at approximately 4:00 p.m.
BARTOLOME ISLAND TOUR
We will start our journey towards one of the most volcanic areas in Galapagos (2 hours of navigation), where we are going to do a special hike around the hill with 350 stairs. Here we will be able to visualize different types of craters and formations of natural volcanic lava, which offers us a breath-taking view for pictures. We will continue our hike until we arrive the top of the hill, which is the most important point of the island. Here we are going to observe the attractiveness of the site, the spectacular pinnacle rock (a unique rocky formation of natural volcanic lava in form of a triangle).
After the hike, we will have a short boat ride, which allows us to take photos of the Galapagos Penguins, which live along the coastline.
We’re also going to visit Sullivan Bay, where we’ll be able to see a surface of a very young volcanic lava, which gives us an idea of the natural formation of the Galapagos Islands and the appearance they had, when they were part of the oceanic surface. After a short walk there, we’ll have some free time on the beach, where you can realize the activity you prefer the most in that moment, such as taking pictures, swimming, snorkeling and observing Marine Iguanas, Sea Turtles and the Galapagos Penguins.
Start: 07:00 am return: 17:00 pm
TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT
After breakfast, we will have the transfer to San Cristobal airport to take our return flight to continental Ecuador and thus we will say goodbye to this beautiful experience we lived in the enchanted Islands, Galapagos.
